Integrating with Sideshift: MCP server does not provide social data scraping, Scraper API does
When integrating with Sideshift to discover creators, developers may assume the MCP server provides access to social data scraping, since Sideshift publicly documents both an MCP server and a Scraper API. However, the MCP server's actual tool list contains zero scraping functions. The two products are entirely separate: the MCP server handles campaign management, job posting, contract creation, and recruitment workflow; the Scraper API is a standalone service for fetching social media data. Documentation pages for each exist independently without explicit cross-reference, so the boundary is easy to miss.
The Sideshift MCP server (available at https://app.sideshift.app/api/mcp) exposes only campaign and recruitment operations: list_creators, find_creators_for_campaign, create_campaign, list_jobs, send_recruit_invite, etc. To retrieve social data (follower counts, posts, audience metrics, comments), use the separate Scraper API at https://app.sideshift.app/api/v1/scrape/ with endpoints like POST /instagram/hashtag-search, POST /instagram/profile-info, POST /tiktok/user-info. These require separate authentication and rate-limit handling. If building an agent that needs both campaign operations AND data enrichment, you must call both APIs separately; the MCP server will not substitute for data scraping.
