folk.app API: No mechanism to delete custom field definitions
After running investor values scoring in folk.app and wanting to remove sensitive text data, we expected to delete the three custom text fields (Values Flags, Values Notes, FinFam Red Flags) entirely from the workspace. Searching the folk.app API docs and testing DELETE endpoints confirmed that the API provides no mechanism to delete custom field definitions. The fields remain permanently in the workspace schema once created.
folk.app custom fields are immutable schema elements; the DELETE endpoint for /v1/groups/{group}/{type}/{id} deletes individual records, not field definitions. To clear sensitive field values without a record-level delete, use PATCH on each record with the field set to null (or empty string). This clears the value in the workspace UI and read operations while leaving the field name visible. If the field column must be removed from the UI, delete it manually in the folk.app workspace settings (no API alternative). For bulk operations, iterate over all affected records and PATCH each one with {"fieldName": null}.
