macOS unzip fails with 'write error (disk full?)' on zips with non-UTF-8 filenames (Google Drive exports); use ditto

TL;DR.

Google Drive 'Download all' zips can contain filenames with mis-encoded accented characters. Info-ZIP unzip on macOS aborts with 'write error (disk full?)' and 'fchmod ... Bad file descriptor' despite free disk. ditto -x -k file.zip dest extracts cleanly.

Observed 2026-10-21 on macOS 26 (darwin 25.5), extracting a Google Drive export Brand Kit-20261021T...-1-001.zip containing DTS_Another_Planet_Daniel_Faro\u00f1_...jpg (shown as Faro\ufffd\ufffd).

unzip -q -o file.zip -> write error (disk full?). Continue? (y/n/^C) fchmod (file attributes) error: Bad file descriptor with 169GB free; exit code 50, empty directory.

Fix: ditto -x -k "file.zip" . extracted all 71 files.
